Nakami is an academic, cranky, and unsocial high school student who gets on the nerves of his classmates. However, the fact that he suffers from a sleeping disorder and frequently goes without sleep for extended periods of time is the source of his negative attitude. He is reluctantly sent to the school's astronomy observatory to gather cardboard boxes as part of the festival preparations. The observatory is said to be haunted by the terrible events of the Astronomy Club, which is now gone. He decides that the isolated area is a good place for him to sleep, but as he looks around, he finds his classmate Magari Isaki sleeping in a locker that has fallen over. Isaki, in contrast to him, is a likable and well-liked student who conceals her own insomnia issues. They decide to make the observatory their own private sleeping quarters in an effort to find a middle ground. They discover that sleeping together provides comfort and ease.
