With its remarkable accomplishments in science and technology, medicine, and other sectors, Japan has emerged as Asia's bright spot in recent years. While there are plenty of wealthy and prosperous Japanese individuals, there are also a lot of people who are fighting a fierce battle just to make ends meet, while also combating costly and harmful addictions like alcoholism and gambling. When they need the money to satisfy the endless cravings that are a natural part of being human, what will these folks do? If they fall into the traps designed by black market money-lenders to capture just such weak-willed people, how wretched and dangerous might their lives become?
